Amy has worked in the environment and sustainability sector for over 10 years including roles at Living Streets and the University of Cambridge.

Amy has developed and implemented Travel Plans, Environmental Policy and Carbon Management Plans. At Marie Curie her role is to reduce and report on the charity’s greenhouse gas emissions including their organisational Carbon Footprint and mandatory reporting such as the Streamlined Energy and Carbon Report (SECR) and Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS).

Richard leads on CFG’s policy and public affairs with a focus on tax, banking, the wider economy and Brexit.

He joined CFG in 2018, having previously worked in the policy team at a membership organisation in the private sector, where he was responsible for work on immigration and a number of high-skilled sectors.

Prior to this, Richard was Senior Policy Officer at a Westminster think tank, specialising in energy and climate policy, authoring numerous reports and helping to advise government on energy efficiency policy. He started his working life in the charity sector in the parliamentary team of an environmental NGO.

Harriet joined Ashden as CEO in May 2019, taking responsibility for developing and implementing the organisation’s ambitious new strategy to tackle climate change.

She was CEO at peacebuilding organisation International Alert and spent 15 years leading Fairtrade in the UK and globally. She has always worked for NGOs with a focus on international development, peace and the environment.

She worked in the UK on refugee and low pay issues, and lived in India for six years. Her book Fighting the Banana Wars and Other Fairtrade Battles was published in 2008. She is a cycling obsessive who loves gardening and walking her dog.

Appointed as CEO of VONNE in September 2018 following four years as Deputy CEO, Carol has worked in the VCS sector for the best part of her professional life of nearly 25 years.

Her background centres on development within the cultural and voluntary sectors, with previous roles focusing on management, business development, fundraising and communications. At VONNE, Carol leads on external policy work with the NE Local Enterprise Partnership and the North of Tyne Combined Authority on skills, employability and inclusive growth.

In addition, Carol is a member of Board of the North East LEP, Northern Powergrid’s Social Issues Expert Group and Stakeholder Panel.

In the last three years Carol has been leading on developing VONNE work related to addressing the climate emergency, ecological collapse and the need for a just transition. She has been instrumental in establishing the cross -sectoral North East England Climate Coalition (NEECCo) bringing together 21 strategic partners from across the region.

NEECCo supports planning and working groups involving over 80 partners from the public, private and voluntary and community sectors on land use and agriculture, waste & resources, built environment, retrofitting, public engagement, indicators, and sustainable finance.

In addition, VONNE has also convened the VONNE Climate Action Alliance of 17 partners who in 2021 launched the Going Green Together campaign and website www.goinggreentogether.org to encourage and support VCSE organisations to learn more, take action and share what they are doing to address the climate emergency.

Tim Frick started his digital agency Mightybytes in 1998 to help nonprofits, social enterprises, and purpose-driven companies solve problems, amplify their impact, and drive measurable business results.

Mightybytes is a Certified B Corp that uses business for good. Certified B Corps meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

In 2012, Tim co-founded B Local Illinois, a place-based group of business leaders working to grow and strengthen the B Corp community in Illinois.

Tim is a Certified Sustainability Designer and the author of four books, including Designing for Sustainability: A Guide to Building Greener Digital Products and Services.

A seasoned public speaker, he regularly presents at conferences and offers workshops on sustainable design, measuring impact, and problem solving in the digital economy.

He has also served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, including Climate Ride and the Alliance for the Great Lakes.

He currently co-chairs the World Wide Web Consortium's Sustainable Web Design community group, which is working to establish environmental guidelines for the internet.

Tom is a Senior Improvement Fellow at the Health Foundation, where he leads research on innovation in health and care, as well as on strategy for the organisation’s approach to environmental sustainability.

He joined the Foundation from NHS England where he was Clinical Policy and Strategy Team Manager, covering maternity and women’s health, and before that Communications and Engagement Lead for the National Maternity Review.

Prior to this, Tom studied law at SOAS, University of London, where he specialised in human rights, and worked for Minority Rights Group International, Hackney Community Law Centre and Intiwawa, a children’s charity in Peru.

George joined DSC at the beginning of 2017 and, having previously led the sales and customer service teams, moved into training at the start of 2020.

He trains in Management & Leadership, Fundraising, Personal Development, Project Management and Wellbeing. He has extensive experience in helping organisations make positive changes to how they approach social change.

He is also qualified as a Mental Health First Aider, with additional time spent studying Psychosis.

The favourite part of his role is knowing that the work DSC performs has a major impact on both the charities and individuals that we are able to serve.

Eileen joined DSC in January 2018, and having worked within the commercial teams in charities and social enterprises brings a wealth of experience of working in the 3rd sector.

Eileen enjoys being part of a team that is genuine, professional and totally committed to building sustainable charities with well trained, confident trustees, employees and volunteers.

As Director of Finance, Technology and Facilities, Sam is responsible for leading the delivery of all business support services relating to finance, IT, premises and office services. He works closely with the firm’s office holders and other partners along with his fellow directors.
Sam is a qualified accountant and joined the firm in 2010.

Roberta joined ACEVO in October 2022 and leads our policy, public affairs and communications activity. Roberta has over 20 years of experience in public policy and communications leadership roles gained in the public and social sector, including central, regional and local government, charities and charity infrastructure. As a volunteer, she chaired a local branch of a national charity in her local area for several years, supporting over 1000 autistic people and their families and has also been a School Governor.

She’s now looking for her next trustee opportunity and enjoys singing in her local community choir.

Carla Whalen is a partner in the charity and social business team.

Carla combines expertise in employment law and data protection with experience and understanding of the not-for-profit sector. She supports a range of charities including those working in the arts, education, environment, homelessness, health, social care and international development sectors, as well as professional membership bodies. Carla is able to call on her HR, regulatory and safeguarding knowledge to get to the bottom of knotty problems and offer creative solutions.

Carla qualified as a solicitor in 2012 and joined Russell-Cooke in 2017.
