Coronavirus weekly funding updates - 28 September - 2 October

Monday 28 September

Worthing Community Chest is awarding grants of up to £250 for ‘small, ad hoc neighbourhood projects in response to the coronavirus’. The charity is particularly interested in projects in the Worthing area that will reach isolated people, deliver food or medicines, run additional food banks or provide meals to school children. Applications should be made by email to grants@worthingcommunitychest.org. For more information, please see the website here.

The Sir Jules Thorn Charitable Trust is accelerating its annual Hospice Fund programme, in recognition of the additional pressures many hospices are experiencing due to COVID-19. One-off grants of up to £5,000 are available to support hospices’ core costs. Applications are only accepted from hospices that are UK-registered charities and are members of either Hospice UK or Together for Short Lives. Applications o close at midnight on 11 October. Tuesday 29 September

The third round of funding is now open for the Art Fund’s Respond and Reimagine grants. Grants of £10,000 to £50,000 are available to help UK museums, galleries and cultural organisations respond and adapt to challenges connected to the COVID-19 pandemic. Wednesday 30 September

The Prince’s Countryside Fund is inviting applications from UK based not-for profit organisations that are working to create resilient rural communities. Grants of up to £10,000 are available to build on projects that came about as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Projects must be completed by March 2022. Thursday 1 October

The Film and TV Charity have announced a new COVID-19 Recovery Fund to support people in the industry most affected by COVID-19. Grants of up to £4,500 over a period of 6 months are available to active workers in film, TV and cinema who have been affected by the crisis and are most at risk professionally and personally. Applications close at 5pm on Monday 12 October. Find out more.

Applications are still open for Local Giving’s Magic Little Grants Programme. Grants of £500 are available to community projects across Great Britain that support and inspire people to participate in sports or exercise. The programme is happy to support projects that help people to stay active during social distancing, such as online fitness classes delivered via video conferencing software or Youtube. Friday 2 October

The Betty Messenger Charitable Foundation has made available £50,000 to be administered by the Small Charities Coalition. Small grants of £100 to £1,000 are available to small charities (with an income under £1 million) who are temporarily struggling but otherwise viable. Applications are invited from UK registered charities that have been established for at least one year. The grant scheme runs on rolling basis with applications deadlines on the 20th of each month.
